Laura Collins, President
Laura Collins is an Enrolled Agent (EA), which allows her to represent taxpayers at all administrative levels of the IRS. Laura specializes in tax preparation and tax planning for individuals, companies, corporations, and nonprofits. She is an expert at analyzing each client in a unique way which leads not only to tax savings, but also to greater profitability. The most rewarding part of Laura’s job is the thanks she gets when she saves someone money through her extensive knowledge of the tax system.
Laura is a great community advocate. She is extremely involved with the promotion of business through the Bedford Business Association where she worked her way from trustee to treasurer to president. She is very proud of the time and dedication she has put into this organization. Laura has also been continuously involved in community organizations, such as Bedford Township Veterans Committee, Bedford Grant Writing Committee, Bedford Community Foundation, Bedford Alumni Association, Bedford Township Fire Commission, Bedford Athletic Boosters, Bedford Football Moms, Heroes In Action, Lambertville Pride, and Women of Bedford United.
In the summer of 2007 it became clear to Laura that the troops who so gallantly serve our county and put their lives at risk for us, every day, were not given the honor she felt they deserved. She felt that she could do something to show her support for these brave men and women. From that day forward and every year since, she decided to provide free tax preparation to active duty troops from every branch of the military serving the United States.
She was a non-traditional college student obtaining her degree while raising her family. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena Heights University with a major in Accounting. She started working for Maureen Gore, owner of Gore & Associates in 1994. Maureen was a great mentor and taught Laura a lot about taxes, tax planning and audits. When Maureen decided that the drive from Novi was too much for her she offered the business to Laura. So, in 1997, Laura purchased the business from Maureen.
Laura has three grown children and resides in Bedford Township. Her two daughters have joined the firm and Laura is thrilled with the knowledge and expertise they offer and bring to the business. Her greatest joy is her 3 grandchildren along with a new addition to the family in March of 2018. In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and her little dog, Piper.
Nicole Markwood, Vice President
Nicole is a licensed Michigan and Ohio Certified Public Accountant. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University in 2006 and her Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Michigan in 2009. She has been practicing tax accounting since 2006. She specializes in tax preparation for individuals, tax planning and payroll services. She and her husband, Tony, are lifelong Bedford residents and enjoy the small town community feeling that is offered here. They have one daughter, Avery, and one crazy dog, Charlie.
Sherrie McCormick, Vice President
Sherrie is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 2008. She has over 9 years of experience working in tax accounting and payroll services. During this time, she has specialized in the income tax preparation for international taxpayers. She also has extensive experience working with the IRS and state and local tax agencies to resolve client matters efficiently. She has a passion to help small business owners and individuals to manage and grow their financial security. Sherrie was born and raised in Bedford and loves all things Michigan, especially experiencing all the fun the outdoors has to offer. During her free time, she enjoys relaxing with her husband, Jeff, daughter, Maddie, and two dogs, Rocco and Duncan.
Nancy Brancheau, Administrative Assistant
Nancy has been a Collins Accounting and Tax Service employee since 2002. She began as a receptionist, quickly working her way up to Administrative Assistant by taking on more challenging tasks and responsibilities. Her office duties consist of answering the phones, scheduling appointments, faxing, scanning, filing, handling client concerns, discussing tax returns with clients and keeping the office running smoothly. She is happily married to her husband Mike and enjoys spending time with her two sons and many grandchildren.
Lynette Maggard, Administrative Assistant
Lynette has been with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2012. She excels at client relations and is one of the first smiling faces you see at our firm. She understands the stress of tax season and is outstanding at maintaining a level of ease for our clients and for our tax return preparers during such a hectic time. She manages the office throughout the year as well.
Kristy Westfall, Tax Preparer
Kristy has been a tax preparer and reviewer with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2010. She graduated from tax preparation school with honors! Each year she continues to learn more and more about IRS tax code and is able to apply her knowledge and skills to ensure the best results for each return that she reviews.
Jim Markwood, Tax Return Processor
Jim has been with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2016. Since our firm is continually expanding, Jim has been an extremely key member in helping us to grow into what we are today. He is an invaluable member of our team. His efficiency in processing tax return continues to grow each year.
Jim Gregory, Tax Preparer
Jim has been with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2010. He is one of our lead tax return preparers and reviewers. His vast knowledge of the various federal and state tax codes helps to ensure all returns leave our office without error.
Christine Eichler, Office Assistant
Christine has been with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2017. She helps to control the flow of traffic into and out of the office during the commotion of busy season. She is able to take on multiple tasks simultaneously with a smile on her face.
Tamara Perry, Office Assistant and Tax Preparer
Tammy has been with Collins Accounting and Tax Service since 2017. She has many years of experience working during the incredibly busy time that is tax season. She is able to juggle many different jobs around the office, including; answering phones, scheduling appointments, preparing returns, among other things.
